OPMaps: the map that doesn't follow you

What the app does

• Find the way

  Routes by car, bicycle and on foot with turn-by-turn guidance. Alternative routes, ferries with departure times, and settings for trucks, trailers and slow vehicles such as mopeds and A-traktor/EPA.

• Congestion tax in advance

  See which charging points a route passes and what they cost at that hour, in Stockholm, Gothenburg and on the toll bridges. Or pick a route without them.

• Cameras on the map

  Surveillance cameras in public places and the Transport Administration's speed cameras. See how many a route passes, and ask for one with fewer.

• Traffic right now

  Queues, accidents, objects on the road and police checks reported by drivers, together with the Transport Administration's live information.

• Places nearby

  Food, fuel, charging, parking, pharmacies and more, nearest first. The data comes from OpenStreetMap.

• Contribute

  Photograph a camera and send it in. A person reviews every submitted camera before it appears on the map.

How you are protected

• Searches and routes go through our own server. The map services behind it never see your phone, and we do not log what you search for or where you are going.
• Your position is used only while the app is open, never in the background. We do not store it. The one exception is the place of a camera that you send in yourself.
• Traffic reports are stored without any link to your account and deleted when they expire.
• Saved places, recent searches and settings stay on your phone.
• No ads, no analytics and no tracking tools from other companies in the app.
• You only need an account to contribute. It is a username and a password, and you delete it yourself in the app.

The privacy policy has the details, including what is not perfect: map pictures, for example, are fetched straight from OpenFreeMap, which then sees your IP address.

What we do not do

• We never map private individuals. Photos where faces or number plates can be recognised are not approved.
• Cameras at protected sites are left out, whatever the photo shows.
• Police reports are a place and a time, nothing else. No photos, no vehicles, no people.
• No submitted camera and no photo is shown before a person has reviewed it.
